What Is Advance Ride Booking?

Advance ride booking means arranging a ride before you need it instead of requesting one on the spot. There are two kinds. You can schedule a ride in an app like Uber or Lyft, which reserves a time and a price up to 90 days ahead and finds a driver later. Or you can book a driver directly, which arranges the trip with one named person who has already said yes. The first suits trips with some slack. The second suits trips that cannot fail and trips that repeat.

Two ways to book a ride in advance

Schedule in an app Book a driver directly
What you hold A time, a pickup and a price A named driver who said yes
When a driver is attached Later. Uber says the ride is confirmed once you receive driver details When the driver accepts your booking
How far ahead Up to 90 days on Uber and Lyft Whatever the driver states
If the driver cannot make it The app re-matches the trip You and the driver settle it, as agreed beforehand
For trips that repeat Book each one separately One standing booking

Way one: scheduling a ride in an app

Uber calls it Reserve. Lyft calls it scheduled rides. Both pages, checked in October 2026, say you can book up to 90 days ahead.

What you get. A locked price. Uber says no surges or spikes, with a footnote that the price can still change if you add stops, change the destination, the route or trip length changes significantly, or you pass through an unplanned toll.

What you do not get yet. A person. The driver is assigned later. Uber's page says the ride is confirmed once you receive your driver details. Its help page says that if the assigned driver cancels less than an hour before pickup, or is not online in time, the trip is re-matched with another available driver. Lyft says driver availability may vary during your pickup window and offers 50 dollars of credit if no driver is matched 10 minutes after the scheduled time.

Good for: trips with some slack. Dinner across town, the ride home from a concert, anything you could cover with another car if you had to.

Way two: booking a driver directly

Some drivers take direct bookings. A driver who does has their own booking page at their own handle, with their name on it, the rides they take and the prices they set.

What you get. The person. The trip is with that driver by name from the moment they accept it. The price is stated before you agree, and payment is captured on the ride through their page.

One-off or standing. You can book a single trip days ahead, or set up a standing booking for a trip that repeats. The driver marks you as a regular, you give your consent, your card is saved and the weekly ride bills on its own.

Good for: trips that cannot fail, and trips that repeat. The early flight. The appointment you waited weeks for. A parent's weekly visit to the clinic.

Why repeat trips change the math

Count them. A weekly appointment is about 50 rides a year. Two mornings a week is about 100. A weekday commute is about 250.

Booked through an app, each one is a separate reservation, each with its own wait to see who claims it. Booked once as a standing arrangement with one driver, it is one conversation, and the same person turns up.

How you get a driver to book in advance

There is no directory for this, and there should not be. You start with someone you have already ridden with. At the end of a ride that went well, ask:

"Do you take direct bookings?"

If the answer is yes, the driver shows you a link or a code before you get out. If it is no, nothing is lost. Ask Your Driver covers the exact wording and what happens next.

What this page does not promise

There is no list of drivers here. You cannot search one, browse one or be matched to one. SOLODRIVE.PRO will not find you a driver.

We make no reliability claim. A direct booking changes who holds your trip, not whether anything can ever go wrong.

We make no claim about any driver's background, screening, licensing or insurance. SOLODRIVE.PRO is a software platform, not a transportation provider. Rules vary by place.

If you are the driver reading this

A passenger searching for advance ride booking is planning a trip they cannot afford to lose. Many of them have ridden with you already. What they lack is a way to book you, by name, ahead of time.

Your own booking page gives them that: your handle, your prices, one-off and standing bookings, alongside the apps you already drive. That starts at /start/.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is advance ride booking?

Arranging a ride before the day or hour you need it, instead of requesting one on the spot. You set the date, time and pickup ahead of time. It is also called pre-booking, scheduling a ride or reserving a ride.

How far in advance can you book a ride?

In the big apps, up to 90 days. Uber's Reserve page and Lyft's scheduled-rides page both say 90 days, checked in October 2026. A driver you book directly sets their own booking window, so the answer there is whatever that driver states.

What is the difference between scheduling a ride in an app and booking a driver in advance?

Scheduling in an app reserves a time, a pickup and a price, and a driver is assigned later. Uber says a Reserve ride is confirmed once you receive your driver details. Booking a driver directly arranges the trip with one named person, who has said yes before the day. One holds a slot. The other holds a person.

Is advance booking more expensive?

It depends how you book. Uber's Reserve page says the price is locked with no surges, and it notes that Reserve cancellation fees are higher than on-demand. A driver you book directly sets and states their own price before you agree. Compare the stated price for your trip either way.

Can I book a ride in advance for someone else, like a parent?

Yes. Both apps let you set a pickup for another person. Many families prefer one named driver for a parent's regular appointments so the same person turns up each time, which is something a driver who takes direct bookings can arrange with you.

Can I book the same ride every week in advance?

With a driver who takes direct bookings, yes. A standing booking repeats on its own. The driver marks you as a regular, you give your consent, your card is saved and the weekly ride bills on its own. In the apps, each scheduled ride is booked separately.

How do I find a driver to book in advance?

Start with one you have already ridden with. At the end of a ride that went well, ask whether they take direct bookings. If they do, they will show you a link or a code before you get out.

Can SOLODRIVE.PRO book a driver for me?

No. There is no list of drivers here, no search and no matching. SOLODRIVE.PRO is software drivers use to run their own booking page. Every path on this page starts with a driver you have already ridden with.
