Can You Request the Same Lyft Driver Again?

You cannot request one particular Lyft driver when you order a ride now. Lyft lets you favorite a driver after a good trip, and on your future scheduled rides it tries to match you with that driver first. That is a priority, not a booking. To book the same person for certain, ask the driver whether they take direct bookings and use their own booking page.

What Lyft actually offers, checked in October 2026

Lyft announced two rider controls on its own blog on July 24, 2025.

Favorite a driver. After a good ride you can tap to favorite the driver. Lyft says that for your future scheduled rides it will prioritize connecting you with your favorites whenever possible. The driver is notified that you added them and gets priority access to your scheduled requests.

Block a driver. Lyft also added a way to block a driver, so you are not matched with that person again.

Lyft said both would reach riders across the US and Canada by the end of August 2025. Check the app for what shows up in your city.

That covers the question most people are asking. Lyft heard the request and answered it with a preference on scheduled rides.

Where the favorite stops working

Three places, and they are the ones that matter most to a rider.

On-demand rides. The favorite is for scheduled rides. Open the app and request a car now, and you get whoever is closest and accepts.

When your driver is off. The favorite only helps if that driver is working, in range and takes the trip. If they are not, the scheduled ride goes to somebody else, the same as any other trip.

When the trip repeats. A favorite is a hope you place one trip at a time. Nothing holds the same person for every Tuesday at 7.

None of that is Lyft doing it wrong. Lyft is a matching system, and it is very good at getting any rider to any driver in a few minutes. Matching is built so neither side has to know the other. Remembering one person is a different job.

How to book the same driver for certain

Some drivers take direct bookings. A driver who does has their own booking page at their own handle. Their name is on it, and so are the rides they take and the prices they set.

Here is what that changes.

You book the person. The booking is with that driver by name. There is no pool and no reassignment.

You pick the time and the pickup. Like booking a haircut.

The price is agreed before the ride. The driver sets it and shows it before you book. Payment is captured on the ride.

A repeat trip stops being rebooked by hand. A driver can take a one-off booking or a standing booking for the same trip every week. For a standing ride the driver marks you as a regular, you give your consent, your card is saved and the weekly ride bills on its own.

The trips worth asking about

Count the trips that repeat.

A weekly appointment is about 50 rides a year. Two mornings a week is about 100. A weekday commute is about 250. On the app, each one is a fresh match. With a driver you book directly, it is the same person who already knows the address.

The trips to ask about are the repeats and the ones where a no-show costs you. The early flight. The weekly appointment. The shift that starts at the same time four days a week.

The sentence that does it

There is no button for this in Lyft. There is a question you ask before you close the door.

"Do you take direct bookings?"

If the answer is yes, the driver can share a link or show you a code to scan. Save it. Ask for the booking link, not a personal phone number. The link is how the driver takes bookings, and it keeps the ride and the payment on the page.

If the answer is no, favorite them in Lyft anyway and use it on your scheduled trips. Then tell them you would book them directly if they had a way. Most drivers who have not set one up have never been asked.

Ask Your Driver has the exact wording and what happens after you ask. The Uber side of this question, including Uber's Favorite Driver feature, is at How to Get the Same Driver Again.

What we do not do

There is no list of drivers here. You cannot search one, browse one or be matched to one. SOLODRIVE.PRO does not find a driver for you.

We also make no claim about any driver's background, screening, licensing or insurance. SOLODRIVE.PRO is a software platform, not a transportation provider. Laws vary by place. The reason to book a particular driver is that you already rode with them and you would do it again.

If you drive for Lyft and a rider just asked you this

Then a rider has done the hard part for you. They already want to ride with you again. All that is missing is a page to send them to.

Your own handle. Your prices. One-off and standing bookings. Lyft favorites only reach you on their scheduled rides. A booking page reaches you every time they need a ride. It starts at /start/.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I request a specific Lyft driver?

Not when you order a ride now. Lyft lets you favorite a driver after a ride, and its own blog post announcing the feature in July 2025, checked in October 2026, says that for your future scheduled rides Lyft will prioritize connecting you with your favorites whenever possible. An on-demand request still goes to whoever the app matches you with.

How do I favorite a driver on Lyft?

After a ride ends, Lyft gives you the option to tap and favorite that driver. Lyft says the driver is notified that they were added to your favorites and gets priority access to your scheduled ride requests.

Does favoriting a Lyft driver guarantee I get them?

No. Lyft describes it as prioritizing your favorites whenever possible. Your favorite has to be working, nearby and willing to take the trip. If they are not, the scheduled ride goes to another driver like any other trip.

Can I block a Lyft driver I do not want again?

Yes. In the same July 2025 announcement Lyft added driver blocking, so you can stop future matches with a driver you would rather not ride with. Blocking keeps one person away. It does not bring a particular person back.

How do I book the same Lyft driver for certain?

Ask them, at the end of a ride that went well, whether they take direct bookings. A driver who does has a booking page at their own handle. You pick the time and pickup on that page, and the booking is with that person by name, not with a pool.

Can SOLODRIVE.PRO find me a Lyft driver who takes direct bookings?

No. There is no list of drivers here, no search and no matching. Every path on this page starts with a driver you have already ridden with. If you have not met that driver yet, this page cannot help you today.

Do I need to download anything to book a driver directly?

No. A driver's booking page opens in the browser on your phone. There is nothing for a passenger to install and no account to create.
