Is Stride Worth It for Rideshare Drivers?
Stride is a free mileage, expense and income tracker built for independent workers, including Uber and Lyft drivers. For keeping an IRS-ready mileage log at no cost, it is worth it. It does not give you your own riders. SOLODRIVE.PRO works alongside it, with a booking page at your handle so the passengers you drive on Uber and Lyft can become your own repeat riders.
What Stride does
Stride is a mileage and tax tracker for people who work for themselves. Its App Store listing names rideshare and delivery drivers as users.
Here is what Stride's listing says the app covers (read October 22, 2026):
| Stride feature | What the listing says |
|---|---|
| Mileage | Automated GPS mileage tracking, reminders, IRS-ready mileage logs |
| Expenses | Log daily expenses, plus transactions from a connected account |
| Income | Add income entries, with tips as their own field |
| Deductions | Help finding deductions based on the work you do |
| Reports | IRS-ready reports you can export |
| Price | "One free app." No paid plan listed for the tracker |
Free is the headline. There is no plan to pick and no trial clock running.
Where Stride earns its keep
A driver puts a lot of miles on a car. A trip you forget to log is a trip you cannot count.
Stride takes the forgetting out of it. It runs in the background, logs the drive, and hands you a report at the end of the year. For a driver who has never kept a log, free and automatic is hard to argue with.
If a clean mileage log is your problem, Stride is a fair answer to it.
What about Uber and Lyft?
Drivers search for a way to connect Stride to their Lyft or Uber account. Stride's listing does not describe a direct connection to either one. You add your income entries yourself.
That is fine for a tracker. Your miles are the big number, and Stride logs those on its own.
What Stride does not do
Stride looks back. It counts the miles you drove and the money you made.
It does not change who is in your back seat next week. The rider you drove to work on Monday goes back into the app. Tomorrow's ride goes to whoever the app sends.
No tracker fixes that, because tracking is not the problem. The rider has no way to reach you.
The part a tracker cannot do
A rider needs one place to book you that does not depend on the app matching you again.
SOLODRIVE.PRO gives you a booking page at your own handle. A rider opens it, picks the trip and the time, and the request comes to you. No app for the rider to download.
- Share your link at the end of a good ride, or point to your booking QR.
- You set pricing. The rider sees it before they book.
- Payment is captured on the platform for your direct rides.
- Turn repeat riders into regulars. Mark a rider as a regular, they agree and save a card, and the ride is billed weekly through Stripe.
- Keep a customer list of the riders who book you.
Miles on the rides you drive through SOLODRIVE.PRO are tracked during the ride, on every plan, Free included. You can also log your Uber and Lyft earnings by hand, so you can track earnings and stay tax-ready in the same place you run your direct rides.
What a free tracker cannot add up to
Stride can tell you what last year cost you in miles. It cannot add a ride to next week.
Here is what regulars add. Say each regular is a commuter, there and back, five days a week. These numbers are illustrative, on a fare you set:
| Your regulars | Rides a week | At $18 a ride |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 20 | $360 a week |
| 4 | 40 | $720 a week |
| 6 | 60 | $1,080 a week |
Six regulars at that fare is over $4,000 a month of rides on your calendar before the month starts. Every one of them started as a rider the app sent you.
So, is Stride worth it?
For logging your miles, yes. It is free, it is automatic, and it gives you a record you can hand to whoever does your taxes.
For growing what you earn, it was never built for that. Keep Stride for the miles. Add a booking page for the riders.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Stride worth it for rideshare drivers?
For tracking miles, yes. Stride is free, tracks your drives with GPS, and builds an IRS-ready mileage log. For a driver with no log at all, that is an easy win. What Stride does not do is bring a rider back to you. That takes a booking page, not a tracker.
Is the Stride mileage tracker free?
Yes. Stride's App Store listing calls it "one free app" and does not list a paid plan for the tracker (read October 22, 2026). Check the listing for current terms before you sign up.
What does Stride track?
Stride's listing describes automatic GPS mileage tracking with reminders, daily expense logging, income entries with tips, help finding deductions, and IRS-ready reports. You can also add past mileage by hand.
Does Stride connect to Lyft or Uber?
Stride's App Store listing does not describe a direct Uber or Lyft connection (read October 22, 2026). It names rideshare drivers as users and lets you add income entries yourself. If a direct link to your driver account matters to you, check Stride's own help pages before you count on it.
Does Stride help me get more riders?
No. Stride records the miles you drove and the money you made. It does not give a rider a way to book you again. That part takes a booking page a rider can open without the Uber or Lyft app.
Can I use Stride and SOLODRIVE.PRO together?
Yes. They do different jobs. Stride keeps your app miles and expenses. SOLODRIVE.PRO gives you a booking page at your own handle so riders can book you directly, logs the miles on rides you drive through it, and lets you log your other-platform earnings so you can track earnings and stay tax-ready.
